Specializes in Facial Paralysis

Facial paralysis is a condition that affects the muscles of the face and can cause weakness, asymmetry in movements, difficulty closing the eye and changes in facial expression. At some point of the recovery you may experience compensations and synkinesis.

If you have any of these symptoms, it's essential to make an appointment with a specialised physiotherapist. The right treatment, started early, makes all the difference to recovery.

At Integrativa, we understand the complexity of facial paralysis and the need for specialised treatment. Unfortunately, there are few professionals in Portugal who have specialised in this area. However, our physiotherapist is internationally recognised as an expert in the treatment of facial paralysis, based on the latest scientific evidence.

Our methodology for treating facial paralysis

Stage 1: Evaluation

Our journey begins with a full and detailed assessment of your face. In this first session, our specialised physiotherapist will make the diagnosis during the session where they will assess the extent of the paralysis, your needs and the strategies and techniques for improvement.

Stage 2: Intensive Treatment

In this phase, treatment sessions take place with the aim of improving facial asymmetry at rest, increasing the mobility of facial tissues and beginning to reduce involuntary contractions (synkinesis).

Stage 3: Maintaining Gains and Preparing for Discharge

In this phase, we will focus treatment on maintaining the gains made and preparing for discharge.

If you're dealing with facial paralysis, you're not alone.
Book your specialised physiotherapy session at Integrativa and discover how we can help you regain mobility, expression and confidence. Our sessions can be at Integrativa or online.
